Cl2 is chlorine.. but what's Cl3 and what's Cl on its own?

You can change them if the elements are added with others to form compounds. Chlorine is always Cl2 AS LONG AS IT'S ALONE. You will never see things like Cl or Cl3 by themselves, but when added with other elements it's possible.
