Which major is right for me?

I am starting college in the fall and would like to have an idea of what I would like to major in so I would spend an extra year or two in college wasting money because I couldn't make a decision. I am seriously considering nursing and neuroscience and have interests in biology, functions and diseases of the human body, and the brain. I know that college is a time for exploration and my interests could change in the future, but I would at least like to have a definite idea of something I could probably spend the rest of my life doing.

Why is it when people pray most of the time people are praying for God to bless them with something or to make their life better in some way? Why do people pray half the time for materialistic objects and for fortune? I don't get why people pray to a God who may or may not exist to grant them with things as if a genie in a bottle. People pray to be given things rather than working hard to achieve those things. Not to say everyone does that, but a lot do. I myself am an Atheist, but thats not to say I frown upon religion, I just believe I have the right to believe what I'd like and so does everyone else. I just don't see how so many can pray for themselves to be blessed when many already have a decent living and many others don't and are struggling. Shouldn't believers be praying for the less fortunate and not be asking to be blessed with a raise or with hitting the lotto? I just see that so many people are quick to pray for themselves to have good fortune and not others.

I am currently trying to show the different religious takes on Beowulf, starting with the actual pagan religion, polytheism, or mythology (however you would like to term it), and then speaking of the Christian influences found in translations and mcripts from 1000 A.D. to present, and then I am also comparing religion in the film versions. I am just having trouble finding out exactly what religions were practiced, and I'm also having trouble finding out how many times (and when) Beowulf was re-written. The version in our text, is I believe from the Cotton Mcript (and I'm pretty sure it's the translation by Seamus Heaney), and as far as the setting, there is an introduction in our book that explains the only character that can be historically placed (which I think is Hygelac, but I may be mistaken) was said to live around 520 A.D. so if this is the right character, (who was Beowulf uncle I believe) then that would set Beowulf in the mid 6th century, however I was under the impression that it was Celtic mythology. I am worried however, that given the fact that most people in this time were all trying to conquer one another and impose their religious beliefs, that there may have been other influences as well as or other than Celtic mythology. I know that the geographic setting is in England and Scandinavia, but I'm not much of a history buff, and I am worried about presenting an argument with glaring inaccuracies.

Personally I think 'WCL' doesn't show enough of other martial arts (mainly focusses on kickboxing) nor allow a complete view of the way of fighting. There should be grappling, elbows, using bare or wrapped hands.etc. I know the rules are to make it safer but Chuck Norris's vision of 'WCL' had to be better than the result. And I do think the concept of trying to knock the opponent out as quickly as possible (to score maximum points for yourself and none for your opponent) is a good idea as it likens to the way a street fight, bar brawl.etc would be.. Help with my 6 month old who is extremely congested?

My little girl had a cold for about 2 weeks, she then had one very bad night , the symptoms were like croupe, barking cough and breathing sounded strange this appeared from nowhere. Since then, which was about 5 days ago, she has been extremely congested, I went to the doctors the day after the croupe episode and the doctor said her chest was clear. She is still just as bad, she throws up phlem sometimes. She is just so congested its untrue, even worse at night than day obviously. I have used saline drops for her nose and drops to put on her bedding to help with her breathing. When she coughs you can hear it rattle around.. Im not sure what else to do as she is no better. I introduced solids last week which she loves but have now stopped as she is so congested and has started to refuse everything until she is better I am gonna keep her on milk. She seems to be getting tired more during the day too Any suggestions what to do?

Riding my bike to work every morning?

The gas prices in my area are insane and out of control. I'm thinking about riding my bike to work but it would be a 44 mile ride (round trip). That would be approximately 22 miles to work and 22 miles back. I am new to biking and a little bit out of shape. CPS false allegations?

A few months back my best friend got a knock on the door by CPS, it turns out someone accused her of abusing her baby and of drinking and doing drugs in front of him. It's a nice respectable computer, personally I am a fan of the Core i7 processor rather then AMD, but that is still a good AMD processor. You could use a little more RAM maybe, but 3 is fine. What do I do about my cat in heat?

I've had a cat for the past 8 years - since she was a kitten. I tried to do the responsible thing and get her spayed when she was just a few months old, but she had a bad reaction to the anesthetic and the vet couldn't do the surgery. So I've just dealt with it every time she goes into heat. For the past couple of days she's having one that is particularly intense, and is driving everybody crazy. She screams all night and keeps everyone awake, insists on being right on top of someone every second of the day, and every time I open a door she runs in and hides somewhere. (I've had to pull her out of the back corner of my closet at least a dozen times over the past couple of days). Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable, and keep the rest of us from going insane, until this pes? And while we're on the subject, I've noticed that she doesn't go into heat as often as she used to. Is that because she's getting old? Do cats eventually go through menopause?

Okay, so the past 4 or 5 years I always wore clothing from Hollister, Aeropostale, and American Eagle. Now I am going into 10th grade and I want to change my style a little bit. I mean the past few months that I have gone into Aeropostale I couldn't find anything at all , it's like their clothes are changing. Now I did happen to find only two shirts at Hollister. But I walked into Pac Sun and I just saw a whole bunch of things that I just loved. Like the brands were all Vol, DC shoes, Element, Roxy, Fox, etc. Most of those are Skater brands. I also found those super skinny straight legged jeans that I also really liked. Now I don't skateboard at all, I just can't.lol. Just let your friends know that you appreciate their help, maybe do something nice for them every now and then to repay the favor - like, make them a special gift or host a movie night or game night at your house. Covering plants for the cold weather in the CZ?

DO NOT use horse manure. It can be too strong for the plants. See if you can find a good mulching material - here in the Southern US we use pine straw. Hay or a heavy layer of organic material like the leaves would also work. Some people even use layers of newspaper as mulch for plants to protect them during the winter. Leaf mold (rotted leaves) also would make an excellent mulch for your plants. If you have a garden center check with them to see what they recommend locally. Good luck.

I would like to make some moves but I dont think it will happen. And James H is correct, free agency isnt usually where the Colts make some moves. Where the Colts improve their team the most often is through the draft and Bill Polian may be the best in the business when it comes to drafting. I would like to see us pick up Derrick Brooks though if we could stay under the cap and get him for only say a 2 yr contract. The Colts had cap problems this year so it was hard to get FA,and even with releasing Marvin there still isnt sufficient cap room to do anything big. DT is an even bigger concern than LB and im almost certain the 1st Rd pick will be used on a DT. Brackett was injured during the playoffs the LB group wasnt as strong, but now I dont think its too bad. I always stand at my friend's locker in the mornings and talk to two of my good friends there. Well there's this guy who always comes over, and I've noticed that ever since I started hanging out at my friend's locker every day, he's also started to come over a lot more. And he always stands either right beside me or directly across from me. I always catch him looking at me. He always listens to my conversations too. No matter which friend I'm talking to, he'll turn and listen to that conversation. Sometimes this guy will say something directly to me, but it's very seldom, and it's usually only a few words. Sometimes he'll move really close to me, so that we're basically touching. And today when he came over, he seemed to be sticking up for me when I was complaining about someone I don't get along with. I think an elective cl would be cool. I took a cl in college anthropology for ancient civilizations, UFOs and other unexplained phenomenom. Science is the search for truth based on theories, which have been proven to an extent. Most scientists are very closed minded. That is if they haven't learned it or can't experiment on it then it must not be true. I think a successful scientist should be open minded. Being open minded is what led to all of our current understandings anyway. A cl like you are proposing could never be taught as a science cl because there is no theory behind it, no proof, no explanation. I think presenting alternative info to students would be good though because it could lead to the next generation discovering something that is currently beyond our realm.

Scapegoat Grandma needs to know: should I respond to result of hearing?

Husband and I were Legal Guardians for our young grandchildren (ages 5 & 6) from Sept. 2006 until March 2011, because parents were divorcing and not getting along. The children actually lived with their parents most of the time until June 2009, when father told mother he was leaving her for his mistress. Grandchildren moved in with us until one of their parents could get their act together. Both were messed up. March 2010, Father filed a petition to end our guardianship. We fought giving them up as we did not trust that father (our son) had truly changed, as he claimed. He is an alcoholic, drug addict, liar, cheat and thief (though only arrested and charged with 2 DUIs) and had just married his third wife before he was 30. We live on opposite coasts of the U.S. During the summer of 2010, grandchildren told us and many others (Child Protective Services, Sheriffs, 2 therapists and others) their parents had abused them horribly. (Imagine psychopathic behaviors and words.) We fought the petition as best we could. Unfortunately, the only way the father could get the children was to mount an offense against me, their grandmother. He convinced the court appointed therapist I am crazy and made the children lie about the abuse and put unthinkable words and ideas into their mouths and minds. I never did (nor ever would) do such an abusive thing to my precious granchidlren (nor to anyone). There was no evidence to support these allegations. Actually, if these allegation were true in my opinion I should have been sent to jail for child abuse. Instead, the court used the report to get the children out of the court system and back with a parent. Mother is even less able to care for children and doesn't really want to. Here is my dilemma; these lies are in the court record now. Should I write something to the court in response to defend myself? Is all this going to come back at me if I want to get a job working with children, again? I used to be a school teacher. Will it seem like I am guilty of I don't respond? (We had a lousy lawyer who only told us not to respond to any allegations over the months and at the end. I don't trust him one bit so I didn't ask him.) What do you think I should do, from your own personal experience and knowledge?

i used to straighten my curly hair all the time and turned on my straightner on high. it really killed my hair and never stayed straight and always ended looking weird so i had to through it in a pony tail. My friend started to notice how itchy and dry my hair looked. I wanted to cry because i worked so hard on it for little payback. i switched from suave( worst shampoo and conditioner ever!) to pantene which helped my hair a little but my friend still noticed how dry my hair looked. ( i use the blue bottle) In a few days my hair had never felt softer and never looked so great! I just picked up a Bible study that was written by Bill Hybels in 1996 called Authenticity. It's part of the Interactions small group series. I Googled him to get background info. and found all of these seemingly accurate articles denouncing his beliefs and his church's affiliation with the emerging church movement. They say he is setting up the church for a one world religion and promoting tolerance over truth. Regular tap water is fine for watering amaryllis. I have grown them in a standard potting mix (which contains peat moss), and I have also grown them in unmilled sphagnum moss. I prefer the unmilled sphagnum moss because it looks better and the bulb seems healthier and less prone to disease. It's more costly, but if you're only growing one or two, it shouldn't be a big deal.

You should talk to a local realtor who deals with first time buyers and they will guide you as far as finding out if you even qualify for a mortgage. The only thing I worry about when you say you were interested in a house that is 20k, is do you realize where houses that cost that much are? LOL I am not so sure you would want to live there for 6 to 8 years much less a week! Usually, houses that cost that little either have a boatload of repairs that need to be done before you can even live in them as they might be condemned by the city, or they are in a high crime area. Samsung Blu Ray player won't play DVDs?

So I recently bought a Samsung BD-P1600 Blu Ray Disc player, and for the first week it worked flawlessly. But after a couple weeks I've been having trouble playing almost every standard DVD. Blu Ray Discs work perfectly. Once I insert a normal DVD though it takes about a minute to read (it makes some rather unpleasant mechanical sounds... though they could be perfectly normal), and when it begins to play there is all this digital audio/visual distortion (The screen is broken up into brightly colored squares - clic digital distortion, and the audio is halting). When this issue began cropping up I was able to resolve it by taking out the disc and cleaning it, but at this point even brand-new dvds are effected. What do you guys think? I had originally thought that perhaps the DVD laser was just more sensitive to dust and smudges, but that shouldn't be an issue with new DVDs. I'm thinking it's a hardware issue... Or perhaps a software setting? The player is still under warranty though, so that's always a last resort.

Although the Buddha never mentioned God, he revealed a way of life that many people find suitable. Jesus and Mohammed both preached peace and love, and idea that many people are also drawn towards. My horse has had a weird limp in her trot the last few weeks. It is very slight almost un noticable unless you look at her head cause it bobs more now. She still is insisting she is okay, by tossing her head & breaking into a trot by herself & still trying to go faster. I am currently 8 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I live at home with my mom right now until the beginning of next year. She has this fireplace, she puts wood in it and it smells awful. As someone who has braces right now, they are difficult to deal with for the first week or so. You have to learn to eat, talk, and deal with a rack of metal glued to your teeth for a good couple years. Why does ambien make me feel drunk?

I take Ambien to sleep at night. I'm a 50 year old woman in peri-menopause and have not slept well for a few years now.
